Dr. Maoz will teach in Hebrew, on the topic of “The Water Journeys in the Holy Land: Between Science and Judaism on the World Water Cycle”.
Dr. Yaacov Maoz (Hebrew University) is a researcher on Rabbinic thought and lecturer on Jewish social philosophy, and a leader at Chevrat L’Matnasim Israel Association of Community Centers. He is a poet and writer, author of the book Poetic Justice, which proposes social improvements through his original poems, and author of the book God, Love, Aesthetics: Art, Faith and Aesthetics in Rabbinic Thought. As manager of the “Identities and Shared Society” Department of the Israel Association of Community Centers, he wrote and edited the popular series “Holidays in the Community”. He is active in leadership development and connections with Diaspora Jewry and Israeli Arab society. A graduate of the HUC rabbinical program and one of the founders of the Israeli Rabbinate program, he chose not to accept rabbinical ordination. He volunteers as a board member of the “Tikkun” movement, which promotes social responsibility via the Mizrahi Jewish cultural tradition, on the board of the Kurdish community, working for the preservation of spoken Aramaic, as a commentator on Jewish and social issues on the Army radio station Galei Tzahal, and on Jokopost.
